"Super 8", the most recent movie from J.J. Abrams, is a sci-fi thriller that takes place in small town America in 1979. A group of young teenagers decide to make a movie and accidentally witness a government train crash. As the military comes to town and starts investigating, there are weird thefts and disappearances. The teens find themselves in the middle of a shitstorm as the slowly unravel the government's lies about what was on that train. The acting is solid and plot decent, and the movie is a pretty good summer popcorn flick. That having been said, the ending leaves much to be desired.

Plot: 7/10
Action: 10/10
Special Effects: 10/10
Acting: 9/10
Ending: 6/10
Living up to its hype: 5/10

Overall: 7/10

Final Word: This movie has been the focus of a lot of hype, and honestly, it seems like it was a bit of a letdown. The movie was interesting and the special effects were good, but it seems like they kinda just threw the ending in at the last minute, which is a shame since the movie was promising up until the ending.
